Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about pergolas
Still curious about how the process works or what it costs to get started? Here’s what most homeowners want to know first. Can’t find it here — just ask us directly.
A pergola is an open or partially covered structure, often with a lattice, batten or louvred roof, while a patio roof is fully enclosed and weatherproof. We’ll help you work out which suits your space and how you plan to use it.
Sometimes. Many pergolas fall under exempt development rules, but this depends on size, height and location. We check this for you before the build starts.
Both. We design pergolas either attached to your home or as a freestanding structure elsewhere in the yard, depending on your layout and goals.
Yes. Louvred pergola roofs let you open and close the blades to control light and airflow, on top of fixed options like open batten, lattice or shade cloth roofing.
